Run eBook Michaelbrent Collings

This was a captivating story that truly hooks the reader from start to finish. I literally couldn't put this book down. I read it from beginning to end within a 48 hour period. The characters are well developed and the reader can't help but be concerned about their fate. Even some of the "bit" players are more developed than most secondary characters usually are and that is the basis of whether a book is worth reading (and recommending) IMHO
This novel crosses genres effortlessly (which I also love.) The main storyline is mostly sci-fi, which is NOT normally my go-to genre. There was suspense, lots of action, maybe a little horror and even some romance thrown in for good measure. There was also that mind-f*#$ that you get with good psychological thriller...and a great deal of ethical insight to keep you thinking long after you turn that last page.
Yes, I would say that Michaelbrent Collings did it again. He wrote another book that stole my attention away from real life for a short span of time...and I appreciate that!
My only complaint is that he needs to come up with some new metaphors and similes for certain situations. Since every single time a character in one of his novels slips on something and almost falls their arms aways "pinwheel" or "spin like a pinwheel" i cant remember his exact wording but I know that is happened at least 3 times in this novel alone. And once or twice in the Loon (which is also good, however quite farfetched. **slight spoiler alert** And dont get too attached to the characters there because not many make it to the end of the journey with you.
I really liked this one and would def reccomend it. If you like the more psychological mind-f*&$ type books, check out his novel 'Strangers' WOW What a read!

Run eBook Michaelbrent Collings Reviews

Michaelbrent Collings kept his style in high gear for this one. Yes my reviews for his books are positive. I love his characters. These "people" carry me to the highs and lows I have come to expect from Mr. Collings.
Run entertained, captivated & disturbed as his books do. This one also taught me I can't hold my breath as long as I thought.
Read in daylight or keep a flashlight handy.
Probably not for young readers. Definitely not for claustrophobia sufferers, unless like me you love to push the fear envelope open just for the thrill.
For the price of this book, you really can't go wrong. It's got love, action, drama, mystery and horror all wrapped up in one, and for the majority of the story, the author presents all this information exceptionally crisp and clean.

But i do give it 4 stars, mainly becuase the ending was somewhat shallow, IMHO. The author does his best to explain all the twists and turns, but i still felt not everything was accounted for. And considering to deep philosophical edge the author was aiming to impact his readers with, that's a wee bit disappointing.

Still, as i said, this is a good book that if you enjoy horror scifi mysteries, you should definitely pick up.
Good, good story. Unusual and interesting and didn't lag anywhere. Main characters were ones you cared about. Nice little twist at the end which was a pleasant surprise. It is not often that I am surprised as I usually can see it coming. Strongly recommend.
This was so disappointing. Yes, the ending was predictable although I kept reading, hoping that I was, somehow, wrong. Problem is that there was no ending! As the story progressed, it seemed that the author had forgotten the parameters he had set. Of course, I might be missing the real point in that the ending was Dickensian in that the message was that mankind was doomed because its safety and security was being managed by a bunch of dumb robots. There were all sorts of inconsistencies where established parameters were simply not followed. If Kaylie was important then why did she simply disappear? The writing style was interesting, and the ride, at least initially, was thrilling. The ending, however, just really pissed me off.
I usually lean more toward fantasy than science fiction, but picked this book up based on the price and reviews on . As far as the usual science fiction goes, it is a pretty compelling and interesting story. Science fiction books usually have trouble holding my interest if they get too technical (the flux immersion core was capable of generating hyperdrive speeds of seven parsecs per militon...) or if they try to introduce too many new ideas/planets/characters to me early on (Gleeglug Lightshadow came from the planet Faison 7, part of the Orion Nebulae and its six moons - Mailoux, Bartlebart, Andonia, Trypton....). However Run puts the reader in a familiar setting (Earth) during a familiar year (1999), and contains no three-breasted humanoid characters to get in the way of my enjoyment of the story. The story hooked me pretty early on, although just like another reviewer, I was also deceived by the book's tagline ("What do you do when everyone you know - family, friends, EVERYONE - is trying to kill you? You RUN"). I was also expecting a book to jump into the action in the very first chapter, and then spend the rest of the story with the lead character trying to solve this mystery. This didn't happen at all. The "run" part does not occur until 3/4 of the way through the book, and the "everyone trying to kill you" description is a bit of an exaggeration. Given that this description was a big selling point for me, I was really expecting more. But I stuck with it and read through it quickly because I was curious what the big "reveal" would be at the end. Although the book is fast-p1aced and has a lot of action, and the plot is original, I just didn't find anything too remarkable about it, and with the exception of the lead villain, I lost interest in the main characters. A good test for me on whether an author has done a good job on character development, is whether I can remember the lead protagonist's name two weeks after finishing the book. Although I still remember Fran's name, I don't remember what the guy's name was in this story. Additionally, I can't even remember what happened to the villain and whether he lived or died. Although it's possible Mr. Collins' literary talents are overshadowed by early onset dementia, I think it's more likely that this story is just fairly forgettable.

I know a lot of reviewers have mentioned what a great deal this book is on (99 cents when I purchased it), I don't think price should affect a review, and my rating is on the literary merit of the book alone. It is better than much of the science fiction out there, but not nearly good enough for me to recommend to others. I wish I could give this book 3.5 stars, since I don't quite think it is worthy of four, but it's definitely not poor enough to merit three. It's just a little above average.
